Fortunes in the Dark

You are a helpless, lost traveler that stumbles upon an unknown forest forest on the outskirts of a backpacking trail. You've been traveling long and far. You are starving, but you realize that you are now low on food and resources. You're lost; all you know if that the only way to get back home is to make it through this forest. However, to your dismay, you hear a low growl in the midst of the darkness... What will you do? What will you eat? How will you fight? How will you survive?
